In october of 2008, bush’s treasury dept ordered 20 banks to sell them stock. Then they took over AIG and became 80% owners. Then they nationalized fannie mae and took it over.

Hey all, just a quick question or 2: Did anyone else file their taxes last weekend? (I did, mine was accepted monday 1/26/09) I’m just curious, when I status my refund at irs.gov, it says:
We have received your tax return and it is being processed. Unless we find mistakes or you owe other taxes, you should receive your refund by February 10, 2009.
Shouldn’t it have updated by now to show a deposit date of Feb 6? (Since the IRS deposits on Friday) I’m worried that there may be a problem — my wife and I are legally separated, and live apart. She filed as Head of Household, so did I. Anyway, I’m concerned because in the past we filed married/joint.
Could the delay be because of that, or am I being paranoid?
Doctor Deth: If two separate households are maintained for greater than 6 months, each can claim HOH; even if not divorced. My wife and I separated last April. She claimed her kid (my stepson) since he lived with her, and my daughter lived with me (her stepdaughter) Yeah, confusing family.

Filed 2008 last year IRS Tax and California State Tax returns late, obviously past the April 15th 2009 deadline as it’s now the following February 2010. We sent using the “paper file” option with “direct deposit”, as efile was not allowed after October 2009. We used Tax Act Online to file this 2008 past year return, and it was filed, printed, and sent Priority Mail on “February 19th 2010 . Wondering how long it takes to get refund for Federal and State returns. Could only find info on paper return with mailed check, or efile with direct deposit. This is a “paper return” mailed priority with “direct deposit”. Can’t use the “Where’s My Refund” tools for IRS or California because it seems set up only for current year returns. I know there is a hotline to speak to reps but curious is anyone in the community has just a knowledge of this type of return? Thank you.

All AIGs current shareholders already know the results are going to be terrible. Theres an expected negative EPS. Givin this, do you think the price of AIG will drop dramatically on Thursday, even though everyones already expecting the worse?

1) The Us Dollar/Chinese RMB (CNY) spot rate and 1 week, 1 mos, 2 mos, 3 mos, 6 mos, 9 mos & 1yr non-deliverable forward rates at June 30, 2008, and
2) The USD short-term Deposit rates from Reuters page TTKL (Tullett & Tokyo) for 1 week, 1 mos, 2 mos, 3 mos, 6 mos, 9 mos & 1 year as of June 30, 2008.
I know these are available from Reuters, but I do not have a way of accessing them.

What you may think is a ground-hitter. Another case of a tech giant hitting their popularity on a few robust blockbuster products (namely the ipod). Is not what you think. Mac computer sales are doing better than ever, steamrolling, gaining a huge market share, MSFT trying to acquire YHOO to compete with GOOG? More like scared shitless of a tech company growing ever so popular with Gen x/y still trading @ about 9 times under earnings…b/c some big guys decided to sell off huge in January b/c they got emotional on AAPL making the moving averages look disgusting…the fact of the matter is…Apple is an amazing company and an even BETTER stock….but Steve Jobs needs to understand the stock game as welll as his computer game…..and understand that a 2 for 1 stock split would be excellent @ this point…understand this doesnt do much for investors b/c your market value or appl will remain the same…unless of course it jumps back up to 200/share after your 2 for 1….what do you think?
