I’m looking to expand my investment but also have some kind of liquidity and i think mutual fund is the best option. I’m not looking for anything long term. What are some good online brokerages do you guys recommend?

Just was wondering what if you were to send a large amount of untaxed money directly from the source into a stock broker account bypassing the bank? Are brokers required to report it? What if it is a gift? Thanks.

I am 23 and planning to move to NY this fall. Here are my credentials: Graduated from UC Berkeley in 2005, BA in Slavic Languages and Literature, very low GPA however, around a 2.3. Afterwards, I got a MS degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University. Ok GPA. Currently working as a Tax Accountant in a regional firm in the Bay Area, California. I’ve worked here for 4 months and already feel that accounting is not for me. I am just upset that the MS Tax degree cost me $20K. I am fascinated by the stock markets, and investing in general. I am contemplating a career change into something related to Hedge Funds or the like. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to transition to a finance career in hedge funds or other investment firms without any financial background, with a low undergrad GPA and a MS in Tax. What classes should I take, who should I talk to in order to build a network relationship? Any and all advice is appreciated!

I am also addressing other members of other banks who have misappropriated bailout funds. The only way they will learn is if thousands of customers boycott. The CitiGroup executive office just purchased a $20M private jet with bailout funds. Do you think it’s time that we, as the American consumer, take back the control and show these companies who is REALLY boss?

I’m a scott trade account owner, I’ve been trading with general stocks for a good time.. If I were to buy ETFs.. Do I just simply purchase it like I would to buy a general stock?
For example: If I want to buy CHN (ETF), I just do it like I would buy Apple (Appl)?

I have about 20,000 dollars in 4 different mutual funds and I was thinking about putting 250 dollars in to each one , each month.
And do 401k about $250/month. Does this seem like a bad idea? Should I just invest 20,000 in stocks and do 250/mo. in 401k?
