i am fiddling with some stock games, virtual stock trading programs to practice. and ill do a stop order like 1% below and the stop never even goes into effect at all period. and does each trading company have stops that take effect quicker than others like scotttrade vs e-trade. on stop order trades.

What causes the bid-ask spread prices go up and down? I believe it has something to do with the Limit Order book and the order of execution? Does anyone know how orders are filled to make the bid-ask spread to change? WHat causes the specialist to hold an inventory of stocks? If the investors don’t provide liquidity thru limit orders, what will happen to the bid-ask spread?

I’m posting again because I don’t thinkg I was clear in my previous post. This is in relation to a warning Scottrade gave me about two years ago.
As an example, let’s say I’m interested in MSFT stock. I buy 10 shares at 10AM. I sell them at noon. Then I buy 10 more shares of MSFT stock at 1PM, and then I sell at 2pm. I do the same thing several times (buy and sell shares of MSFT) until the market closes.
Is this really possible? The reason I ask is that Scottrade (I believe) gave me a warning about two years ago for doing something like this: I bought some stock from one company, sold it, and then bought it again. And then I sold it. And this happened the same day.
I think Scottrade told me that I needed to hold on to the for a longer period of time.

I heard Charles Schwab has it, but did not find anything from its Web site though. Level II is only for NASDAQ, not what I am looking for.

Are most online ForEx brokers like FXCM or MB trading good at hitting your limit buy and sell orders? I’ve read so many mixed reviews online about slippage, scalping, etc. Many horror stories, but stories of success. If I have a plan that I’ve tested on a simulator that works, will it work with one of these brokers? (the simulator uses the same spread essentially with real historical data)
